MISSION

The John E. Fogarty Foundation for Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities seeks to support inclusive programs, research and organizations that provide services to improve and enhance the quality of life for Rhode Island individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Highlight | Conley Zani

Conley Zani is one of our newest Board members.  She brings a world of enthusiasm to our team and hails from Portsmouth, RI on Aquidneck Island.

Conley became familiar with the Fogarty Foundation when she was awarded one of our annual grants:  she developed a dance fitness program in which our I/DD community gets a chance to be the actual fitness instructor– taking turns leading choreographed songs to their fellow participants.  This program is ripe for cultivating a love of music and movement, as well building leadership skills and social skills.

This popular program now has 50 participants and it takes place weekly at the CFP Arts, Wellness, and Community Center in Portsmouth that Conley manages.   Many of our I/DD community consider this Center to be a home away from home and with their input, several new programs have been tested and adopted.

Conley is a community builder at heart and believes that connection is a cornerstone for mental health.  Her mission is “to create spaces and experiences in which people know they belong and are always included.”

Outside of her volunteer work, Conley is owner of a consulting business that focuses on leadership and communication skills.   She does a lot of workshops and executive coaching internationally.  She is an alumna of Bain and Company and has an MBA from Harvard Business School and BS and MS in Chemical and Biomedical Engineering from Rice University.   She is currently the Vice Chair of the Aquidneck Land Trust, the current president of the Common Fence Point Association, and also serves on the Board of the HBS Alumni Association of SE New England.
